We are delighted to announce that our Head Chef Javi Dominguez Santos was crowned the ‘Creative Chef of the Year’ at the recent Scottish Food Awards held in the beautiful King’s Hall in Edinburgh.
Many of Scotland’s food stars were been recognised at the Scottish Food Awards 2018 which celebrate and reward the very best in Scottish food and the specialist Chef’s working in Scotland’s finest hotels and restaurants.
The Scottish Food Awards are designed to reward Scotland’s Chef’s, Restaurants and service professionals. They also shine the spotlight on the local town’s which provide an exceptional culinary experience. The King’s Hall, Edinburgh played host to the black tie celebration, which welcomed guests from across Scotland.
Links House Head Chef Javi Dominguez Santos was thrilled to collect the award for Creative Chef of the Year. Well known for his unusual presentation and exciting flavour combinations, he was delighted to be recognised at this National event.

The new Menu in The Orangery Restaurant is a perfect example of Javi’s creativity and flair for food and flavours.”

At Inver Lodge, Nick developed the overall strategy, resulting in many industry accolades over the years including, since 2009, managing the “Chez Roux” restaurant in conjunction with renowned restauranteur Albert Roux. Nick is well known to our team having served for many years as a judge for the Scottish Hotel Awards as well as the Young Highland Chef Awards. Javi Santos, our Head Chef, worked with Albert Roux and Nick for over 3 years.
We are all very excited to have Nick joining the team at Links House and he is looking forward to meeting our new and returning guests.
On Easter Sunday, Links House re-opened for the 2018 season. Showcasing a newly extended restaurant to accommodate more resident and non-resident diners. Opening night saw a full house keen to sample New Head Chef Javi Santos’ menu. Offering both an A la Carte and a 10 course Tasting Menu, Javi impressed everyone with the intricate details and range of freshly prepared dishes. The image shows the Tournedos of Mi-Cuit Skrei Cod with Baby Squid Bolognaise and it tasted as good as it looks!

We have been very busy this winter…not only have we extended our Restaurant, we have also created a new suite. The Laxford Suite has it’s own front door, one bedroom, bathroom, living room with dining table for two and a small kitchen. Bookings are now being taken for this new suite but be quick as it is already proving popular for 2018!
Javier Santos has joined Links House as new Head Chef. Javi has been a prodigy of the Roux stable for several years, serving most recently as Head Chef at award-winning Rockpool Reserve in Inverness since 2013. He has also worked within the Roux organization at Michelin stared, Le Gavroche and The Waterside Inn. Javi looks to expand the exceptional reputation of Links House for the finest Highland cuisine utilizing a vast network of local specialty suppliers.
Fiona Herd has also joined Links House as Food & Beverage Manager. Fiona has an extensive experience in the hospitality and events industry. Fiona, who has managed her own hospitality recruitment business, previously served as Events and Business Development Executive at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh. Most recently she was Hospitality Lecturer with the North Highland College UHI based at Burghfield House, Dornoch.

This week we travelled to Edinburgh to attend The Scottish Thistle Awards at the EICC in Edinburgh. We were delighted to be finalists in ‘The Best Restaurant Experience’ category following our win at the HITA awards in Inverness. This was our first National Final, it wasn’t our night this year but we thoroughly enjoyed attending and met friends old and new at the event.
Still Game and River City star Sanjeev Kohli co-hosted the evening with STV presenter and former Miss Scotland, Jennifer Reoch. Entertainment was provided by ventriloquist and comedian Paul Zerdin, winner of America’s Got Talent 2015, and Hannah Rarity, BBC Radio Scotland Young Traditional Musician of the Year 2018.
Tourism Secretary Fiona Hyslop said: “The Scottish Thistle Awards are the most coveted accolades in the tourism industry, celebrating quality, innovation and excellence across the industry.
“For 25 years the awards have recognised the significant value the sector contributes to the visitor economy and VisitScotland’s continued delivery underlines the organisations commitment to quality and success across the industry.”
We are incredibly proud of the Team at Links House and attending these awards as a finalist is just reward for their continued commitment and hard work throughout the season.
Here at Links House we have been caught in the midst of the aptly named ‘Beast from the East’ storm. With over 3ft of snow piling up around the hotel it has been quite a week for our staff and the workmen who are extending our restaurant! We have seen so much snow falling here in the Highlands, it has been relentless! Hopefully it will now thaw and the Links House grounds will once again be visible.
Links House are delighted to have been awarded 4 awards at the recent Scottish Hotel Awards Regional ceremony. Winners of Regional Style Hotel, Golf Hotel, Country Sports Hotel and Informal Fine Dining Hotel. We are looking forward to the National Awards event held in Edinburgh in April and hope to bring an award home for the Team.
Alongside the awards given to Links House, two members of the team were presented with People of Excellence Awards – congratulations to Beatta Pett and Andrea Biro.
