Links House offers beautiful landscaped gardens and grounds next to Royal Dornoch's 1st Tee

Links House at Royal Dornoch is set amidst generous grounds with lawns – bordered with a colourful array of herbs, flowers, plants and mature trees – and inviting terraces surrounding the hotel.

Main House and The Mews – Understated Georgian Luxuries and Comfort

Between the original Main House built in 1843 and the new sympathetically constructed Mews – built to reflect the architecture of the former church manse – sits our practice putting green. Built by Royal Dornoch Golf Club’s master green keepers, our green often witnesses some friendly post-prandial competition. And with each hole named after a famous Highland whisky distillery it is tradition to partake of a dram or two during your ‘round’.

French doors in the Orangery dining room open out onto a terrace replete with seating – perfect for a pre-dinner aperitif – with views over the first tee of Royal Dornoch’s Championship Course and the beach and Dornoch Firth beyond.

The Mews overlooks the putting green and boasts a covered patio with rocking chairs – the perfect spot for a moment’s quiet reflection as you drink in the views of the Dornoch Firth. Dotted around the gardens and grounds are bespoke wooden benches, making it easy to find a quite space to yourself to read a book from our extensive library or sit in quiet contemplation.

The New Glenshiel – Late Victorian Splendour and Style

Our newest building is Glenshiel, built exquisitely in identical sandstone exterior but of late Victorian architectural vernacular, circa 1875. Look closely and you will note clever architectural references to the original Georgian Main House manse.  Replete with cracked crag stonewalls, expansive flower beds, and large croquet lawn in front, Glenshiel and its Proprietor’s Suite The Mallart, boasts the finest views in Dornoch stretching from the Kyle of Sutherland across to the famous Portmahomack Lighthouse.

Additionally, adjacent to the Mews just thirty 30 steps from Royal Dornoch’s 1st tee, is our Sporting Bothy. Golf clubs and equipment can be stored and dried overnight.  Also our Bothy hosts angling equipment, day hiking gear, bicycles with helmets as well as art supplies such as pastels, watercolours, paper and related kit.
