Links at Home – Basil Martini
With our herb garden starting to blossom, we felt it only right to use some of the herbs we have growing there to make some delicious drinks, that can be easily recreated at home!
This take on the Gin Martini adds a refreshing and mouth-wateringly savoury note to a well-loved classic.
If you’re not lucky enough to have your own supply of fresh herbs, stores still have plenty of growing pots!
Ingredients :
8 – 12 Basil leaves (dependant on size)
20ml Vermouth (I’ve used Noilly Prat)
45ml Botanist Gin
Juice of half a lemon
Twist of Black pepper
Method:
Muddle the basil leaves in a mixing glass, add your vermouth and fill with ice. Stir for 15 – 20 seconds before adding your gin and stirring for another 30 seconds. Lastly add the lemon juice and give a final stir, 20 seconds, before straining into a chilled martini glass, or any short glass of your choice.Garnish with a twist of freshly ground pepper and a final basil leaf.
A little message from Kieran, our Restaurant Manager –
“The lemon makes this great on its own, but the basil just begs you to have another with dinner”
