When is MARA open for dinner?
MARA, our restaurant at Links House in Dornoch, is open for dinner from Thursday to Monday, serving a refined, seasonal table d’hôte and seasonal tasting menu at the high standard our guests expect.
What is the MARA Market Menu?
The MARA Market Menu is a highly seasonal offering available on Tuesday and Wednesday evenings. It changes regularly to hero the freshest regional produce, with minimal interruption. Dishes include Highland seafood and prime sharing cuts which are all crafted with the same attention to quality and flavour that defines MARA but curated specifically for our midweek atmosphere.
Can non-resident guests dine at MARA?
Yes. Non-resident guests may book MARA from Thursday to Monday, subject to availability. Non-resident guests are also now able to book the MARA market menu on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. To reserve a table, simply book online here.
The Anteroom is also available for non-resident groups of 6–12 guests throughout the week, offering a bespoke private dining experience.
Does MARA have a dress code?
Yes. MARA at Links House in Dornoch operates a smart/casual dress code for dining.
Is MARA child friendly?
Yes. MARA welcomes all families and children, and is perfect for family-friendly dining in Dornoch.
Does MARA allow dogs?
While Links House has dog-friendly accommodation available, we kindly ask guests to leave their dogs at home when coming to dine at MARA. -
What is The Anteroom and when is it available?
The Anteroom is our elegant private dining venue, available every night of the week for 6–12 guests. It features a specially curated menu and is ideal for intimate celebrations, private dinners and small gatherings. Bookings must be made in advance.
What is The Anteroom Experience?
Launching in early spring, the Anteroom Experience is a shared-table event where individual guests can book seats for a sociable evening with a set menu. Perfect for those who enjoy great conversation and dining in the company of fellow travellers.
What are The Anteroom Super Clubs Events?
The Anteroom Supper Club events are intimate dining evenings at Links House in Dornoch, hosted around the table in The Anteroom. Each event brings together guests for a seasonal tasting menu shaped by Highland produce, local stories and the creativity of the kitchen team.
Spaces are limited to 12 guests, with tickets priced at £80 per guest. An optional Drinks Flight, thoughtfully chosen by the Food & Beverage team, is available for £50 and payable on the night.
How do I book an Anteroom Supper Club event?
Anteroom Supper Club events can be booked through the Links House website, with each upcoming evening listed on the Supper Clubs page.
As each event is limited to 12 seats, early booking is recommended. Guests can book individual places at the table, and selected events may also offer the option to make a night of it with an overnight stay at Links House.
Cancellations made within 48 hours of the event will incur the full charge so guests are encouraged to contact the team as early as possible if their plans change.Is Afternoon Tea available at Links House?
Yes. Afternoon Tea at Links House is now available exclusively for groups of 12 or more, and is ideal for private celebrations. Bookings must be made in advance.

Can you accommodate dietary requirements or allergies at Links House?
We are pleased to adjust menus for vegetarian, pescatarian, vegan, and strict allergy or intolerance requirements with a minimum of 48 hours’ notice.
If dietary requirements are not shared at the time of booking. Full charges will still apply.
Please note that our kitchen environment handles allergens, and while every care is taken, we cannot guarantee it is allergen-free.
For dishes featuring game, we endeavour to remove all shot but cannot guarantee they are completely free of shot fragments.
Can dishes be changed for dislikes or preferences?
We are unable to make adaptations for personal dislikes. We kindly ask for guest trust in our kitchen’s preparation and philosophy.

How are dinner reservations handled for resident guests?
For resident guests staying at Links House, our Guest Relations team will contact you before your arrival to assist with organising any dining arrangements for throughout your stay.
Please note that advance reservations are always recommended and tables are not automatically allocated for our resident guests.
Can guests explore other dining options in Dornoch?
Absolutely. There are a number of excellent alternatives in Dornoch, and our Guest Relations team will gladly assist with recommendations and reservations throughout the week.

What time is check-in and check-out at Links House?
Check-in at Links House is from 3pm, and check-out is by 11am.
Should you arrive early, our Guest Relations team will be happy to store your luggage until your room is ready, so you can begin settling into Dornoch at an easy pace.
Is Links House dog-friendly?
Links House can welcome dogs in a limited number of suitable rooms, subject to availability and advance arrangement.
The Helmsdale room in the Main House and Laxford in the Mews are ground-floor rooms that may be used for guests bringing a service dog or pet. An additional nightly charge applies for pets.
Is Links House family-friendly?
Yes. Children are most welcome at Links House.
For families who would like children to stay in the same room, child beds can be provided for an additional charge. Our Guest Relations team will be happy to advise on the most suitable room, suite or apartment for a family stay in Dornoch.

Links House is a five-star Highland home in Dornoch, with a collection of individually designed rooms, suites and apartments in the Scottish Highlands.Set across the original 1843 Manse House, Mews House, Glenshiel and our apartments, each space has its own character. You’ll find thoughtful interiors, soft Highland touches and a sense of calm that makes it easy to settle in.
How many rooms and suites does Links House have?
Links House has 15 individually designed rooms, suites and apartments, giving the house an intimate, personal feel.
No two stays feel quite the same. Each room has been shaped with its own details, views and sense of place, from the grounds and putting green to Royal Dornoch and the Dornoch Firth.
Does Links House offer accessible accommodation?
Yes. The Helmsdale room on the ground floor of the Main House is fully accessible for wheelchair use.
The room includes space for wheelchair access, emergency assistance alarms in the bedroom and bathroom, grab rails, a shower chair and a separate fire exit leading directly outside. Guests with accessibility requirements are encouraged to speak with our Guest Relations team when booking, so we can understand what would make their stay most comfortable.
In addition to the accessible Helmsdale room, Links House has several ground-floor suites that may suit guests with mobility requirements. Thurso and Naver in Glenshiel, and Laxford and Carron in the Mews, are located just metres from the property car parks and require only a short walk to access. Please let our Guest Relations team know before arrival if baggage assistance would be helpful.

Yes. Links House has two guest parking areas: one behind the Main House and one to the rear of Glenshiel.
