Fire, Food & Music
Early Summer at Links house
There is a point in early summer when the Highlands begin to feel more open. The days stretch long into the evening, the light softens across the links, and time seems to move a little more easily. People gather more. Conversations linger. The day rarely ends when planned. At Links House Dornoch, this is when the season truly begins.
TÍR | Fire, Food & the Terrace
This May, we introduce something new. TÍR is a relaxed terrace experience at Links House, shaped around cooking over fire, shared plates, and the simple pleasure of being outside.
It takes its cue from that moment after a round of golf, when the sun is still out, drinks are poured, and nobody quite wants to leave. Open to both resident guests and those passing through Dornoch, TÍR brings a more social, easy-going energy to the house during the warmer months.
Food comes straight from the grill. Meat and fish cooked over flame, bold flavours, and dishes designed to be shared around the table. Drinks are equally uncomplicated, spritz in the sun, cold beers, bottles of wine passed between friends. There is no formality to it. Just the sound of conversation, the smell of the grill, and the feeling of an afternoon stretching into evening.
Dornoch Gatherings | Music in the Cathedral
As the season gathers pace, Dornoch begins to fill with music. Through Dornoch Gatherings, a series of concerts and performances returns to the atmospheric setting of Dornoch Cathedral, offering a different way to experience the Highlands.
These are not large-scale productions, but carefully curated evenings where music, setting, and audience come together naturally. This summer’s programme brings a particularly compelling mix of artists.
Folk musicians Calum Stewart, Sophie Stephenson and Luc McNally open the series with a blend of pipes, fiddle and guitar, rooted in traditional music yet contemporary in feel.
Later in the programme, writer and broadcaster Daisy Goodwin brings a different kind of storytelling to the cathedral, offering an evening shaped by conversation, insight and reflection.
The season also welcomes internationally renowned soprano Amira Willighagen, whose voice fills the space with a rare sense of scale and emotion.
And closer to home, Siân offers a more intimate performance, rooted in the tradition and landscape of Scotland itself.
The Dornoch Gatherings programme runs throughout May, June and July, with performances held in Dornoch Cathedral. Each evening carries its own atmosphere, but all share the same sense of place. For guests staying at Links House, these events sit easily within a stay, an evening of music after a day on the links or exploring the coastline.
A Season for Gathering
From the terrace at Links House to the stillness of the cathedral, early summer in Dornoch is shaped by moments of gathering. Food shared outside. Music carried through stone walls. Time spent together, without urgency.
These are not headline events. They are the kind of experiences that stay with you long after you leave. Our team would be delighted to help you plan your stay around these moments.
